It is quite easy to add on your music files to a computer that has iTunes without missing any of your music files.

  • Link your iPod up with your computer using the USB cable. You need to click ‘NO” when prompted to sync your iPod with iTunes.
  • Music Files

  • Once your iPod is hooked up, open iPod on your computer. In case you are a Vista user, just open iPod and select ‘Organize’, then click on the tab ‘Search Options’ and chose show & view folders and files that are hidden.
  • Users of XP should open iPod and select ‘Tools’ from Menu and sub-option ‘Folder’ then go to ‘View’ tab and select ‘ Show hidden-files-and-Folders’, and lastly click, ‘Apply’.
  • A folder named iPod Control will get created, which will have the following options: ‘iPod-control’,’ Calendar’, ‘Contacts’, ‘Photos’, etc. You need to know about the iPod-Control, as you are only interested in saving your music files.
  • Click on the iPod-Control to open the music files and copy all your music files on your computer. This can be done by right clicking on your desktop and creating a new file folder. Then drag your music files to the folder.
  • Now select iTunes and drag the folder you have created on the desktop into ‘Library – Music’. Sync your iPod with your computer and all your music files will be intact.
