Fake iTunes codes doing the rounds

Submitted by on 2009/04/15 No Comment

How could Apple have been so naive. It’s been attacked by hackers apparently giving out ITunes gift code crackers spiking sales for Apple.

Fake iTunes

There was a deluge of $200 iTunes gift tickets for far below regular cost after the code was cracked recently. Prices dropped to just one per cent of the real value as Apple got duped. The other trick is hackers have been trying to get in league with iPhone application developers to drive up sales for 50 per cent share in the earnings. An e-mail to an iPhone developer was located recently with this ‘proposal’.

If the developer said ‘yes’, the hacker would get several hundred application copies bought with fake iTunes accounts. The sales may go up, but the legitimate profit earning won’t. Apple gotta gear up.
