Blu-ray is getting cheaper

Submitted on 2009/12/24 No Comment

We can see from the above table that Blu-ray player price has just reached at normal DVD player price. The year 0 to year 3 shows downward trajectory in the price of Blu-ray player. The decrease in prices is not considering inflation and a big amount in prices has gone down that the Blu-ray player manufacturers didn’t want.

Blu-ray

Many firms battled with Chinese players in order to reduce the price to a certain level equal to Chinese player but Sony was a firm which didn’t allowed its players price to go below $300 MSRP. But Samsung was the player which competed and till last year, Chinese manufacturers really lost much money in this competition with Samsung. This chart has been taken from the source Envisioneering Group in the Wall Street Journal article. The average price of each player for each format in the years following their launch whether it is DVD or Blu-ray has been highlighted in this article and chart.

This decrease in prices has questioned our mentality on watching DVD than Blu-ray due to its much higher cost before. It is obvious that if we get same picture quality then we will not spend much more money on this. This can change our criteria of choosing among the source to watching movies with fun having 3D effects in near future.
